Resumo: | There are several recommendations for aerobic training. However, self-selected exercise have been indicated with the assumption of generating better affective response (e.g.: pleasure) possibly resulting on greater chance of exercise adherence. Given the low rates of exercise adherence and considering its benefits, it must needed to verify what activity generates better affective responses. This dissertation investigates this issue and is comprised of two studies. To compare physiological and affective responses of two aerobic exercise prescriptions. Twenty four participants performed 3 experimental sessions on a treadmill ergometer. The physical activity level (IPAQ questionnaire) and the VO2Max were recorded. In the second and third sessions, the aerobic prescriptions were applied, one based on physical activity level (PBPA) and one based on VO2Max (PBVO2Max). The data were normalized in quartiles (Q). The PBPA generates a relative risk of dropout from the exercise session 150% higher than the PBVO2Max. The effect size (ES) showed higher feeling scale in the PBVO2Max in Q4 (ES: 0,41) and lower heart rate (HR) in PBVO2Max (average ES of all quartiles: -0,85). To compare physiological and affective responses of self-selected and imposed exercise sessions. Fifteen participants performed 3 exercise sessions in a cicle ergometer. The VO2Max was recorded in the first session. In the second session a self-seleceted exercise was applied and in the third session an imposed exercise session was applied. We observed no significant differences between self-seleceted and imposed exercise sessions for physiological (HR, VO2, and lactate; p>0,05), for power output (p>0,05) and for psychological variables (perceived exertion, feeling scale and felt arousal scale; p>0,05). Exercise prescriptions based on VO2Max seems to generates better psychological responses. The exercise method (self-selected or imposed) not affected psychological responses. Our results suggests that an adequate exercise adjustment could provide better psychological responses |

Our results suggests that an adequate exercise adjustment could provide better psychological responsesExistem diversas recomendações de treinamento aeróbio. Prescrições baseadas no VO2Max parecem proporcionar melhor resposta afetiva. Os achados sugerem que um ajuste adequado do treino pode gerar melhores respostas afetivasSubmitted by Boris Flegr (boris@uerj.br) on 2021-01-05T18:50:24Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Bruno Ribeiro Ramalho de Oliveira_Dissertacao.pdf: 1193910 bytes, checksum: 31cbcb249786294baec8628b959424f7 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-05T18:50:24Z (GMT).
