Resumo: | The metallic materials union using structural adhesives has become an increasingly used process and is preferable to other fastening methods such as screws and rivets in various applications, due the advantages offered by their application. The main benefits of bonded joints are the more uniform distribution of stresses, reduction of structure weight, greater resistance to fatigue, besides being a cold work. This work made a numerical and experimental bonded joints analysis with carbon steel substrates and ARC 858 adhesive in two configurations: single lap joint and combined loading joint. The ARC 858 critical fracture energies (𝐺IC e 𝐺IIC ) were measured by the DCB (double cantilever beam) and ENF (end notch flexure) tests, respectively, and the CBBM (compliance based beam method) method was used to measure the energies. Knowing the critical fracture energies and other properties of the ARC 858, measured by destructive tests, the numerical analysis of the bonded joints was done using the cohesive zone models (CZM), which allow the damage growth simulation in structures, used together with the finite element method through commercial software Abaqus. The experiments considered the bonded area variation, both the joint length and width being modified, as well as the adhesive layer thickness variation for the combined loading joints. In addition, specimens glued together for about seven years ago were tested, and the results were compared in one of the configurations with newly bonded specimens. The experiments were modeled using the finite element method, obtaining good agreement with the experimental results. Considering joints with the same bonded area, in general the analysis confirmed the preference for larger widths in the single lap joints, and higher heights in the combined loading joint. The mechanical strength of the combined loading joints glued about seven years ago was close to the newly bonded joints, considering the same configuration. |

Submitted by Boris Flegr (boris@uerj.br) on 2021-01-07T14:42:32Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese_RanulfoMartinsCarneiroNeto.pdf: 5497198 bytes, checksum: 0a1c26e9e54f3b75719296abc6e5cdfe (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-07T14:42:32Z (GMT).
