Milton Hatoum no parlatório: entre crônicas e paratextos digitais

Resumo: This paper aims to discuss the position of Brazilian writer Milton Hatoum in the literary field focusing his production as a chronicler. We propose the idea of the “parlatory” as a way of entering this type of writing in the work of the amazonense and for this we study a corpus of 56 chronicles published in Terra Magazine, from 2006 to 2010. We add to the study some posts by the author in his networks. Additionally, we elaborate a reflection on the problem of the chronicle in Brazil, in order to think about the relations between this literary species and the advent of the press, since the chronicle is a hybrid genre and its trajectory is confused with the history of the newspaper. Thus, it was necessary to revisit some definitions of the species, as well as questions from the field of Literary Theory (COUTINHO, 2003; MASSAUD, 1968; CANDIDO, 1992) about the limits and impasses in the conceptualization of the chronicle. In our study, the term “chronicle” by Milton Hatoum aims to highlight the unique style marks that form an author's poetics, from whose corpus mentioned we removed 12 chronicles, classified into three categories: Autobiographical, Metanarrative and Metaideological (CEIA, 2009). The image of the writer in the parlatory, from the comparative reading between Machado de Assis and Milton Hatoum, leads us to affirm that since the work of the “Bruxo” the image of “cabinet writers” has been problematized. The parlatory is seen as a place where the writer seeks controversy as he denounces the social problems of the country and the world, whether in digital environments, in print or in social networks. Finally, we will argue that there is a “noisy conversation” between writer and audience in the parliaments, as we will see in the studies on paratext (GENETTE, 2010), focusing on digital networks in which Hatoum participates.

Propomos a ideia do parlatório como um modo de entrada nesta modalidade de escrita na obra do amazonense e para tanto estudamos um corpus de 56 crônicas publicadas na Revista Eletrônica Terra Magazine, nos anos de 2006 a 2010. Acrescentamos ao estudo algumas postagens do autor em redes sociais acerca da espécie crônica. Adicionalmente, elaboramos uma reflexão sobre a problemática da crônica no Brasil, a fim de pensarmos as relações entre esta espécie literária e o advento da imprensa, uma vez que a crônica é um gênero hibrido e sua trajetória se confunde com a história do jornal. Com isso, fez-se necessário revisitar algumas definições da espécie, bem como questões do campo da Teoria Literária (COUTINHO, 2003; MASSAUD, 1968; CANDIDO, 1992) acerca dos limites e impasses na conceituação da crônica. Em nosso estudo, o termo “crônica de” Milton Hatoum visa a ressaltar as marcas de estilo singulares que formam uma poética de autor, de cujo corpus mencionado retiramos 12 crônicas, classificadas em três categorias: Autobiográficas, Metanarrativas e Metaideológicas (CEIA, 2009). A imagem do escritor no parlatório, a partir da leitura comparativa entre Machado de Assis e Milton Hatoum, nos leva a afirmar que desde a obra do bruxo já se problematizava a imagem de “escritores de gabinete”. O parlatório é visto como um lugar onde o escritor procura ‘dar a cara a tapas’, ao militar, criticar e denunciar os problemas sociais do país e do mundo, seja nos meios digitais, impressos ou nas redes sociais.
