Resumo: The present work aims to analyze the ways by which, the education offered to women by the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century, might have contributed to the composition of female characters in the novels Sense and Sensibility (1811) and Pride and Prejudice (1813), by the British author Jane Austen (1775 1817). The present work presents the thoughts of important names in the fields of literature, literary criticism and theory and also history, as a support in mapping out, not only what was discussed about the moment and place in which Jane Austen and the novels analyzed here are set, but mainly about female education
