Adolescentes mães acolhidas: a maternidade como forma de subjetivação na contemporaneidade

This paper observes the hypothesis that, for teenagers with the highest indicatives of social vulnerability, such as the young women sheltered, maternity constitutes one of the forms of subjectivation that allows them to resist to the precarious situation in which they are found, making additional possibilities of life and existence. Therefore, this current work aimed to verify the construction of the relationship between the sheltered teenagers and their babies, during their pregancy and after giving birth, aiming to show how they see maternity themselves. The field research was performed on a governmental shelter, located in Rio de Janeiro, which contained a program destined to shelter up to ten pregnant teenagers or young mothers, as well as their children. The method of research consisted on participative techniques such as integration and observation of operative groups and individual interviews, made with the sheltered pregnant teenagers or mothers, and the analysis of data from the shelter prontuaries regarding said mothers. The content of the data was examined bringing to surface five categories: 1) life history of the sheltered teenagers; 2) the experience of pregnancy; 3) cares with the baby; 4) mother-son relationship; 5) between dream and reality: the point of view of the teenagers mothers about their future. That way, there is evidence of aspects in the life of these teenagers that influenced their trajectories, their processes of subjectivation and the relationship with their children. This work made possible to see how these young women performed motherhood and developed a bond with their babies, pointing to the fact that these develop the care for their children in a satisfactory manner and show themselves avaiable to build significative relationships. Besides, it was made an observation on how they perceived the moment of closure of their link with the shelter and their perspective of future. That way, it was possible to conclude that, even though these women perceive motherhood as a form of subjectivation that allows them to find other meanings to their lives, the practices performed in a context of sheltering, about themselves, constitute conducts of vulnerability that had repercussions on the relationship between the teenage mother and her baby
