The detection of disease clusters is a challenge fpr public and mainly to elucidation of outbreaks occurrence, since epidemiological outbreaks are defined usually as a clustering of cases. The reviews of literature available about the indecation of watch technique of spatial analysis is appropriate to this assignment are limites to indicate the choice of techniques considering the types of data, the cluster type and extend of the disease. Are rare the guidelines witch suggests the use of tecniques of spatial analysis in the context of field epidemiology. The objective was toreview critically the spatial data analysis techniqques with can be employed in outbreaks investigation. Is an exploratory nethodological study, with evaluation of the methods in two stages: (i)a narrative review of the objective of research and (ii) description and critical review of the application of the techniques selected on the narrative review. The techniques considered of major importance to the outbreak investigation were reviewed and described, including techniques of type global, local and focal. Thirteen techniques were submitted to critically review and fourteen relevant questions to the outbreaks investigation were appreciated. The analysis of the response capacity of the selected techniques was based on technique particulars and on the nature of the questions of the outbreak investigation, seeking the equivalence of the answergiven by spacial analysis in relation to the response that it want to be reached in the investigation's question. The techniques were classified regarding the amount of information that is provided to answer the question, indicating the capacity to respond, or responsiveness. It was conclued that the spatial analysis techniques can contribute to the outbreak investigation, since it is able to answer some of the questions of an investigation. All the fourteen questions were answering in some level. Spatio-temporal and purely spatial local techniques respond to the greater number of questions. Already the spatio-temporal present the higher level of responsiveness to the questions. The techniques with fewest number of answered questions were the focal purely spatial.
