This study analyzes the ethical-political responses given by the Commission Guidance and Inspection (COFI), and the Regional Social Service Council (CRESS 7th Region/RJ), complaints related to professional practice, coming to their knowledge. This is because we consider indispensable discuss the difficulties and possibilities of that body representing the profession meet the demands of the category, given the current effects of reconfigurations in the work, which cause expansion and diversification with regard to such complaints and, therefore, become more complex possibilities of such responses. In addition, we reflect on the dilemmas and challenges facing the social work - a regulated and inserted profession in the social division and work technique as liberal, possessing Code of Ethics and Professional Council in its socio-historical background, has its professionals in the labor market on the condition of paid professionals. To develop this study, we focus on the reconfigurations in the work and the repercussions of this process in the practice of social worker, whose impacts, commonly unfold in demands for Commission Guidance and Inspection (COFI) of the Regional Social Service Council (CRESS 7ª Region). Empirical research was conducted through interviews with the fiscal agents of the Commission Guidance and Inspection (COFI) of the Regional Social Service Council (CRESS 7th Region) who were willing, and some board members who have or had significant link work with that committee. We aim to meet and reveal how this organ, which is not restricted only to inspection, but also understands the normative and disciplinarian dimensions, affirmative, political-pedagogical, receives, evaluates and responds to complaints related to professional practice, arriving to its attention. The data also analyzed are the result of laws that support the professional practice of social workers and specific publications of the referred Professional Council in magazines and periodic. The analysis is based on the objectives proposed by the study, taking as reference the historical and dialectical materialism, elaborated by Marx.
