This essay discusses the narratives constructed around the colonial matrix that is embedded in some Primary Health Care (PHC) practices in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In order to critically analyze this system, I assert my own experience as a legitimate method in the production of knowledge and of humanitarian practices in Public Health, recognizing my social role and my trajectory as a white woman in the Brazilian society. Based on the black feminism and decolonial feminist perspectives, I draw on this writing of the self, keeping records of my in-process experience, aiming to ground what belongs to me in this sociability of my time. Considering race as a structure, the scenes I experienced in the Field boost my reflections regarding the expressions of heteronormativity within relations of Power and gender violence, manifested in the employee’s body, as well as the social divisions and cleavages in the PHC practices. As background of my reflections, I research about updates of the policies that guide this care level. Then, I critically reflect about the current moment in Rio de Janeiro, in the midst of the health crisis, and its necropolitical operation. Finally, present the reasons why I believe in reparation as the most humanitarian path to the health policies, through the assertion of the existence of a heteronormative-atriarchal-misogynist inscription in the field of collective health, and also of the modern-colonial constitution of the Brazilian history and democracy.
