Resumo: The practice of physical activity performed on a regular basis is very important for the health of individuals of all ages. The 6-minute walking test (6MWT) and 200 meters walking test (200mWT) are instruments used to check the dynamic performance of the cardiopulmonary system, clinical and medical monitoring of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as to plan pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The literature shows that dynamic tests with fixed length and or given time may be useful for assessing the functional capacity. The 200mWT is an evidence of fast walk that is being introduced in the worldwide literature. We have searched through databases but we did not find any such work already developed in Brazil. The Physical Therapy Service of UERJ has held for over 20 years the 6MWT using the reference equation proposed by the American Thoracic Society (ATS). The equations developed in Brazil have shown limitations concerning the methodology used or the limited recruitment of participants, which made us wonder about their reliability. The main objectives of this thesis was to establish a reference equation of the 6MWT and 200mWT using a Brazilian population. The methodology used for that purpose was a cross-sectional study, prospective in 327 sedentary individuals of both genders, from 20 to 80 years, with a Charlson index lower than 1. Individuals who have agreed to participate have undersigned a consent form and were submitted to clinical, respiratory functional, radiographic and electrocardiographic clinical assessments before the 6MWT and the 200mWT. Both tests were performed on the same day with gaps of at least 30 minutes between them, and each of them was repeated at least once. The project has been developed over the past four years. More than 7,003 individuals were invited to get to the selection of 327 individuals self-defined as healthy volunteers and with a sedentary life style. Those individuals performed the 6MWT and the 200mWT in different days. The result obtained was a reference equation to 6MWT for men: Distance (in meters) = 390.16 + (height* 1.42) (weight*0.95) (age*0.54); and a reference equation to the 6MWT for women: Distance (in meters) = 409.02 + (height *1.18) (weight*0.71) (age*1.05). And we obtained the reference equation to the 200mWT for men: Time (in minutes) = 108,55 - (height*0.13) + (weight*0.21) +(age*0.32); and the 200mWT for woman: Time (in minutes) =161,9 - (height*0.55) + (weight*0.30) + (age*0.28). Thus, we have concluded that the reference equation to the 6MWT and the 200mWT developed on this study is more appropriate to the Brazilian population and, therefore, we recommend it s use as standard reference. The equations shown herein were obtained by using multivariable reference equations for males and females. Then, the values obtained were compared with other three international equations for the 6MWT. The results have shown that, when real life values are compared with the ones obtained through this study, all of the three equations had different reference values for males and females. There are not, however, any references concerning the 200mWT, neither in the international literature nor in the national literature.

Não há na literatura internacional e nacional equação do TC200m.Submitted by Boris Flegr (boris@uerj.br) on 2021-01-05T19:35:54Z No. of bitstreams: 1 TESE_FINAL_PUBLICADA_Adalgisa_Ieda_Maiworm_Bromerschenckel.pdf: 884702 bytes, checksum: f3d381ab092071a027e18373122c9592 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-05T19:35:54Z (GMT). There are not, however, any references concerning the 200mWT, neither in the international literature nor in the national literature.
