Resumo: The present study aimed to verify the invariance of the psychometric indicators of the factor structure of the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory in young undergraduate nursing students. Considering that the undergraduate nursing course and the profession itself are predominantly female, it is possible to think about the existence of influences/repercussions of sexism, from the origin of nursing, to the care practice of the professional in training. Consequently, in the multiplication or not, of this gender violence. Sexist conceptions and stereotypes among health professionals can generate discriminatory and prejudiced practices. The general objective of this study was to verify the invariance of the psychometric indicators of the factor structure of the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory in young undergraduate nursing students, and the specific objectives were to measure the level of sexism among young undergraduate nursing students; Identify the types of sexism among young undergraduate nursing students; Identify the profile of young undergraduate nursing students. The research was cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational, with a quantitative approach. The study population consisted of 305 young university students aged 18 and over, enrolled in the undergraduate nursing course at a Public University in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The study setting was the Nursing School in the city of Rio de Janeiro. For the production of data, an instrument elaborated in two blocks was used, containing sociodemographic/academic aspects and a questionnaire in likert format, with items present in the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory (ISA) where two dimensions were evaluated: hostile sexism and benevolent sexism. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 25.0. The descriptive analysis of the population characteristics was expressed through frequencies (absolute and relative) for the categorical variables, for the quantitative variables measures of central tendency (mean, median) and dispersion (standard deviation) were used and calculations regarding Pearson's correlation, Cronbach's alpha, intraclass correlation, Chi-square and t-test were used. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to test the consistency of the existence of the bifactor model of sexism among students. The analysis confirmed the two-dimensional structure of sexism, showing a significant positive correlation between hostile and benevolent sexism. The population was predominantly female, in the age group of 20 to 24 years and presented a higher score in benevolent sexism. Comparison of sociodemographic and academic variables according to sexism revealed higher scores for men aged 20-24 years at the end of the period, both for benevolent and hostile sexism. The results offer support to the theory of ambivalent sexism and contributions in the area of teaching and nursing care, based on the elaboration of knowledge regarding the behavioral dynamics related to the presentations of sexism among young university nursing students and reflections on the phenomenon in the training process in undergraduate nursing courses.

Os dados foram analisados no software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) versão 25.0. Submitted by Eduardo CB/B (duardoribeiro91@gmail.com) on 2023-10-31T16:01:59Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertação - Susane Vasconcelos - 2023 - Completa.pdf: 2567196 bytes, checksum: 0227ecee80203629cc4bc43945c9f9c2 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-10-31T16:01:59Z (GMT).
