Interação entre familiares e usuários de sistemas de comunicação alternativa: padrões de comunicação e efeitos de um programa de treinamento

The AAC System, Alternative Augmentative Communication, which introduction in Brasil date from 1979 has the purpose to promote and/or to supplement the speech (utilizing graphic communication symbols) to guarantee to the person an alternative form of communication if this one don t show to be able to express himself orally (von Tetzchner, 1997; Glennen, 1997 apud Nunes, 1999). Understanding the CAA resource as an important instrument of the social inclusion of non-vocal persons in a circumstance where the speech is predominant verbal, it is convenient that the communication could be extensive to the environment of the children s social intimacy or to the system adult user (as home, school, community, etc.). The objective of this study is to verify the interaction pattern between an AAC user adolescent and his mother in a way to consider the importance of the familiar perspective for a development of a particular person communicative functionality. Since the limited aspects of the familiar interlocutor were identified, the systematic communication of the user and the consequent impoverishment of the communicative exchanges between both of them, it has been created and implemented a training program. During this training it has been utilized a non-directive methodology in which the mother observed his interaction with her son through video tapes to get the opportunity to discuss the images with the expert. After the training achievement, it has been ascertained the extinction of some restrictive answers of the mother and an increase in the user productivity beyond of a better improvement of the time spent with the computer communication
