This paper analyzes the public policies concerning Cultural, Artistic and Historical Heritage in Brazil, taking as a case study the Community of Traditional Fishermen from Itaipu, a neighborhood in the city of Niterói, and two specific actions protection to Heritage in that area: the overturning of Gathering the ruins of Santa Teresa and the creation of the Archaeological Museum of Itaipu. The main objective of this thesis is to study the relationship between the community of Traditional Fishermen in Itaipu and identified actions. This paper is about search actions for the preservation of traditions and local memory in Itaipu by locals. States, so, these joints in favor of traditional life linked to the world of fishing configure identity politics. Reflects therefore as protection processes the quoted equity are related to these identity politics. It can be said as soon as the job search to understand the axis between policies to protect the assets on a macro level, the heritage actions at the local level and the discourses of traditional community on these.
