Resumo: The Creative Gestures research intends to show how important is art activity in Neurologic Disturbance Patient Rehab. The research was developed in the Sarah Rehab Hospital Network. Questions and thoughts arouse from the daily work of this researcher as an art teacher over more than ten years. Based on a historic review of art and mental health relationship in Brazil the research investigates the role of art activity in patient rehab. The review also included the history of art activity as part of patient rehab developed in Sarah Network. Two case studies are used as a discussion base of the relationships of art, creativity and rehab. Both cases are related to patients seen in the Art Atelier of Sarah Rio. One had Parkinson disease and the other Broca's Aphasia. The present research development was triggered by the researcher’s perception of the art ability to rescue some individual significance in those patients affected by neurological diseases and to help their integration in the society. The main themes in this work are art, health, education, creativity and rehab.

Esta pesquisa é realizada na Rede Sarah de Hospitais de Reabilitação, na unidade do Rio de Janeiro. As questões e reflexões surgiram a partir da experiência diária da pesquisadora como professora de Artes há dez anos na Rede Sarah. Buscando contextualizar o trabalho de arte na reabilitação, foi realizada uma revisão histórica das relações entre arte e saúde no Brasil, especificamente na saúde mental, onde este tipo de trabalho começou, assim como o histórico do trabalho de arte e reabilitação desenvolvido na Rede Sarah. A partir da apresentação de dois estudos de caso de pacientes atendidos no Ateliê de Artes do Sarah Rio, um com doença de Parkinson e outro com afasia de Broca, são discutidas as relações entre arte, criatividade e reabilitação. Esta pesquisa foi motivada pela percepção da importância da arte para o resgate da potência dos indivíduos acometidos por doenças neurológicas, para sua ressignificação como sujeitos e para sua inclusão na sociedade.
