This dissertation aimed to investigate and understand different ways of life of the contemporary man and his forms of suffering, and to reflect on how this suffering can be articulated to existence. With this aim, we conducted a Narrative Review of the Literature, finding in the Heidegger's phenomenological-hermeneutic philosophy, elements that provided a more original apprehension about the contemporary historical horizon and the inseparable man-world relationship. The investigation tried to understand, together with the philosopher's thinking, the notions of Dasein, World, Impersonality, as well as this era of technique’s determinations, which has boredom as an affective tone. The study also established a dialogue with Bauman, Foucault and Han to think about the concretization of these ways of being and suffering in daily's life. Thus, it was possible to reveal the meanings of production, control and operationalization, which, without limit, dictate the pace in our historical horizon; as well as the atmosphere that tunes a way of being occupied, which follows a fast and compulsive rhythm of excessive chores. It was observed that such meaning and atmosphere make possible ways of being more individualized and automated, which, thoughtlessly, determinate itselves with the daily occupations and distractions. In this context, it was also possible to articulate the experiences of suffering with historical, social and cultural issues of this Era, revealing them in their emertion field, and understanding suffering as a historical phenomenon; in addition, to point out how the contemporary horizon is characterized.
