Resumo: The study here presented proposes a transdisciplinary approach with a possible reading of Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe’s work, Faust: A Tragedy, through two main keys to reading: the first is the compared mythology through Joseph Campbell’s viewpoint on monomyth and the hero’s journey. The second is Plotinus, neoplatonist philosopher, along with his ideas regarding the Soul and its journey to the One. Both keys to readings bring an active view of the subject’s development, or the human psyche, which would be at the same time, the prerequisite and the goal of the individuation process, through Carl Gustav Jung’s perspective. In this sense, through the comparative analysis of Goethe’s passages and the he-ro’s journey by Plotinus, it is intended to present the character Faust as a model of the myth that seeks to develop his innate power of self-realization, such task would be inherent to the human being in any time or place

Ambas as chaves de leitura trazem uma visão ativa do desenvolvimento do indivíduo, ou da psique humana, o que seria, ao mesmo tempo, pré-requisito e meta do processo de individuação, sob a ótica do psiquiatra suíço Carl Gustav Jung.
