The theme of is work is the formation of teachers of social studies during the Military Regime (1964-1985). Taking as reference the theory of education history and the history teaching we analyze the trajectory of creation, institutionalization and crisis of the short degree in Social Studies in Brazil, between 1970 and 1980, through the experience lived at the School of Teacher Education (FFP) of São Gonçalo / RJ between 1973 and 1986. The central concern of researchers were concentrated on the analysis of the implementation of social studies education in the first degree from the Reform of Education in 1971 and in the process of reformulation of teaching history from the 1980s. The studies on this subject are guided and influenced by the discourse of struggle against the Social Studies and short degrees. We propose a more comprehensive discussion and analysis of the differences, conflicts and choices. The prospect of change in the scale of observation through research and the specific changes that passed the short degree course in Social Studies of FFP in conjunction to the national context of the 1970s and 1980s instigates new questions about the composition of these courses and teachers responsible for its structure. Assuming that the Social Studies has a history that predates the military regime and the short degrees were created to remedy a real shortage of teachers in certain regions of the country and traced the history of teacher training in Social Studies Brazil.
