Resumo: The dissertation presents the Recycled Plastic Sheets (Pla.Ca) made from post-consumer polypropylene packaging. Although the Pla.Ca are produced from sustainable logic, transforming discarded single-use materials into new possibilities for durable products, there is still a lack of information regarding characteristics that help their application in new projects. Added to this, there are some barriers to adopt recycled materials, such as their technical and aesthetic characteristics and consumer interest. In this sense, the present research sought two main objectives: (1) the delimitation of a framework of technical and design characteristics and, from them, (2) generate alternatives product projects for Recycled Sheet. For this, analyzes of the material were carried out from the scientific method and techniques of Industrial Design. Thus, a review of plastic materials in society and the context of the production of Recycled Sheets is presented, in addition to mechanical tests of bending, impact, workability techniques; and aesthetic features, developed from surface design and qualitative interviews. The characterization carried out generated the first information regarding the Recycled Sheets, presenting the possibility of replacing wood materials, such as plywood and agglomerate, based on their mechanical and working characteristics. It was also possible to develop the first aesthetic color standards, facilitating the application of the material in new projects. From this, it was possible to carry out different possibilities of products for different markets, such as utilitarian objects, decoration objects, and furniture, presented at the end of the work.

Embora as Placas sejam produzidas a partir da lógica sustentável, transformando materiais de uso único descartados em novas possibilidades de produtos duráveis, ainda carece de informações quanto as características que auxiliem sua aplicação em novos projetos. Soma-se a isso algumas barreiras para adoção de materiais reciclados como suas características técnicas, estéticas e o interesse do consumidor. Nesse sentido, a presente pesquisa buscou dois objetivos principais: (1) a delimitação de um quadro de características técnicas e de design e, a partir delas, (2) gerar alternativas para projetos de produtos para as Placas Recicladas. Para isso, foram realizadas análises do material a partir do método científico e técnicas de Design Industrial. Dessa forma, é apresentada uma revisão sobre os materiais plásticos na sociedade e o contexto da produção das Placas Recicladas, além de ensaios mecânicos de flexão, impacto, técnicas de trabalhabilidade; e características estéticas, desenvolvidas a partir do design de superfície e entrevistas qualitativas . A caracterização realizada constitui as primeiras informações relativas às Placas Recicladas, e apresenta a possibilidade de substituição de materiais de madeira, como compensado e aglomerados, a partir das suas características mecânicas e de trabalho. Dessa forma, é apresentado o desenvolvimento dos primeiros padrões estéticos de cores, facilitando a aplicação do material em novos projetos.
