Os técnicos, os campos e as Copas: imprensa, narrativa e o imaginário da elite cultural do futebol

Resumo: Identifying the world projected by the national newspapers about the coaches of the Brazilian team in the first nine soccer World Cups (1930 to 1970) was the central objective of this thesis. Understanding that narratives act by building worlds (RICOEUR, 2010), inviting the interlocutor to play this narrative game having as its main foundation the imaginary of this interlocutor was our main theoretical tool. Our hypothesis was to consider that this world of newspapers sought in the conflicts present in the narrative about the competition, demarcate the imaginary of the national elite by inserting and demanding the habitus (BOURDIEU, 2007a) of this elite of the coach of the selection team, being his representative in the ritual of the World Cup (GUEDES, 1998). We analyzed 2,351 news in three newspapers, among which 577 mentioned the selection coaches. Our corpus comprised the day of the team's debut until its return to Brazil. There were exactly 200 days of World Cup analyzed, totaling 600 newspaper editions, which indicated the intense interaction between fields (BOURDIEU, 2004a), which changed what was required of this coach in the frame (GOFFMAN, 2012) World Cup at each conjuncture, modifying its concept (KOSELLECK, 1992)

Compreender que as narrativas atuam construindo mundos (RICOEUR, 2010), convidando o interlocutor a jogar esse jogo narrativo tendo como principal alicerce o imaginário deste interlocutor foi a nossa ferramenta teórica principal. Nossa hipótese foi considerar que nos conflitos presentes na narrativa sobre a competição, o treinador seria o representante da elite nacional no ritual Copa do Mundo (GUEDES, 1998). Analisamos 2.351 reportagens em três jornais impressos, dentre as quais 577 mencionavam os técnicos da seleção. Nosso corpus compreendeu o dia da estreia da equipe até seu retorno ao Brasil.
