This research deals with the intersections between drug addiction s clinic, where the researcher works for a few years, and the concept of devastation, starting with Freudian s elaborations about female sexuality and finally going to Lacanian s theory of sexuation. With the study of some clinical cases, accompanied by the researcher, this dissertation approaches one of the aspects of female jouissance devastation and the possible incidences of the use of alcohol and drugs on it. The cases' analyzes pointed out that this dimension of female jouissance appears primarily in mother and daughter s relationship, and can, sometimes, be updated later in women s love relationships. This is why this dissertation will initially cover some issues from the Oedipus Complex in women, reaching the paternal metaphor and the maternal desire. With Lacanian s proposition about sexuation, mainly with his famous axiom women don t exist , it will be possible to circumscribe some important points of feminine position, regarding the symbolic inconsistence and the female jouissance, such as devastation. This research also indicates the importance of fantasy, semblant, and love for women, revealing how she tries to gain ex-sistence and delimit the traumatic and devastating jouissance, through some substitutes. As Freud (1930) already taught, the use of alcohol and drugs can be a resource against angst, therefore it could also be a way to deal with the female impasses, which shows that this use is not always correlated to devastation. The relationship between the use of drugs and devastation will be analyzed throughout the whole research, along with the exposition of some clinical cases. Finally, this research launches the hypothesis that, sometimes, when drugs are used as a resource to stop the devastating effects of jouissance, there s a risk that this same use can precipitate devastation
