Resumo: | Marriage is one of the most difficult and complex tasks in the family life cycle. It demands that two different people create a common reality and renegotiate a series of matters, which had previously been defined either individually or by their family of origin. The couple relationship is not the same across married life. It undergoes a continuous process of change. Every spouse experiences moments of individual stress and the ones related to the couple life cycle. In the latter, proper strategies are established in order to deal with frustrations and difficulties that may arise, and also define different ways to adapt to change. We understand that the way couples deal with these situations can make this process easier or more difficult, having repercussions for the couple s well-being. The aim of this work is to analyze the dyadic coping in couples in the 5 stages of the life cycle and identify the strategies of coping in the couple and, secondly, in the parenting. Dyadic coping comprises the effort of one or both spouses to face and deal with stressful situations, which affect one of the partners or both. It is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Ten interviews were carried out, following a script, with heterosexual couples of intact, middle class families, from the city of Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba. The interviews were transcribed and content analysis was adopted. The analysis indicates that there are similarities, among the participants, in establishing dyadic coping strategies, in different moments of the life cycle, both in conjugality and in parenting. The spouses dyadically establish the strategies of coping that tend to remain along the marital history. We conclude that couples elect certain patterns of dyadic coping and use them during different periods of the marital life cycle, what points out to the importance of analyzing the way couples establish their dyadic coping strategy since the beginning of their marriage, as they are the foundation of the couple s dynamic. Besides that, they have repercussions for individual and marital well-being |

Besides that, they have repercussions for individual and marital well-beingO casamento é uma das tarefas mais difíceis e complexas do ciclo de vida familiar. Submitted by Boris Flegr (boris@uerj.br) on 2021-01-07T18:42:26Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissert_Aline Mussumeci.pdf: 5512473 bytes, checksum: a2ef53e91a3a7ce9e87bcf4a3cd2c529 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-07T18:42:26Z (GMT).
