This research seeks to understand the transformations of leisure in Volta Redonda establishing an analysis of leisure practiced and lived in the city with the National Steel Company (CSN) while state and the current time of leisure in the city that is through the actions taken by the city. The entertainment offered and encouraged by CSN had characterized serve, preserve, restore and enhance the ability to produce the worker presenting features of industrial-Fordist moment in Brazil with emphasis on socio-cultural activities and sports clubs which was mainly linked to sociorrecreativos company. After the privatization of (CSN), there were changes in the forms of leisure options and the municipality due to the reduction of the company's presence in the cultural life of the city and increase the participation of municipal public sector in providing leisure activities for people with characteristics post-industrial. These activities are in line with the urban modernization undertaken by the city that seeks to shift the image of the city linked to CSN ("City of Steel") to a city with good quality of life, with citizenship. For this design a city show through projects / programs and major events, especially sports. Thus, changes in clubs sociorrecreativos linked to CSN and increased investment in new equipment of municipal leisure sports especially, for example, relate to the urban fabric of the city being the two main aspects of change of leisure in the city. The transformation of leisure into the urban fabric were significant, however, did not result in changes in the experience of leisure for the population.
