Resumo: The Lagoon of Jacarepaguá (LJPA) is part of a lagoon complex, formed by three other lagoons, located in the west of the city of Rio de Janeiro, and has the largest drainage area of the complex (103 Km2). LJPA constantly receives the clandestine release of domestic and industrial effluents, in addition to diffuse contributions from the drainage of water from different sources, with a high pollutant load. The Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA) is an important tool that enables a more global view of risks for the management of contaminated areas, including the identification of adverse effects of contaminants on the environment. The purpose of this study is develop an ARE for LJPA, using three lines of evidence (LoE): Ecotoxicological, Ecological and Chemical. The sediment samples were collected at four sampling points in the LJPA. The Ecotoxicological LoE was based on chronic ecotoxicity assays (Chlorella vulgaris and Ceriodaphnia dubia) to estimate the Ecotoxicological Risk, which presented an average value of 0.88 and was classified as very high. The Ecological LoE was based on the analysis of the richness and abundance of local algae species for estimate the Ecological Risk, presenting an average value of 0.75, being classified as very high. The Chemical LoE through the values of metals found in the sediment samples taken from the Lagoon to estimate the Chemical Risk, presenting an average value of 0.69 being classified as high. The Environmental Risk was estimated integrating the Risks of the three LoE, presenting an average value of 0.87, being classified as very high.The highest risk indices were found at points P2 and P3, followed by points P1 and P4, with values of 0.97, 0.97, 0.89 and 0.65, respectively. The current environmental risk of the LJPA exposes the urgent need for more enforcement actions to prevent the release of sewage before the complete degradation of this important ecosystem of the City of Rio de Janeiro.

A Avaliação de Riscos Ecológicos (ARE) é uma importante ferramenta que possibilita uma visão mais global dos riscos para o gerenciamento de áreas contaminadas, incluindo a identificação de efeitos adversos de contaminantes ao meio ambiente. Este estudo teve como objetivo desenvolver uma ARE para LJPA, utilizando três linhas de evidências (LoE): Ecotoxicológica, Ecológica e Química. As amostras de sedimentos foram coletadas em quatro pontos de amostragem na LJPA. A LoE Ecotoxicológica foi baseada em ensaios de ecotoxicidade crônica (Chlorella vulgaris e Ceriodaphnia dubia) para estimar o Risco Ecotoxicológico, que apresentou um valor médio de 0,88 sendo classificado como muito alto. A LoE Ecológica foi baseada na análise da riqueza e abundância de espécies de algas locais para estimar o Risco Ecológico, apresentando um valor médio de 0,75 sendo classificado como muito alto. A LoE Química através dos valores de metais encontrados nas amostras de sedimentos retirados da Lagoa para estimar o Risco Químico, apresentando um valor médio de 0,69 sendo classificado como alto. O Risco Ambiental foi estimado integrando os Riscos das três LoE, apresentando um valor médio de 0,87 sendo classificado como muito alto. Os maiores índices de risco foram verificados nos pontos P2 e P3, seguidos pelos pontos P1 e P4, com os valores de 0,97, 0,97, 0,89 e 0,65, respectivamente.
