Cuidado em saúde à pessoa que vive com HIV/Aids: representações sociais de enfermeiros e médicos

This study aims to identify the social representations of health care to person living with HIV/AIDS for nurses and doctors, describing them through structural and processual approaches; compare these social representations and analyze the health care to person living with HIV/AIDS taking into account the social representations resulted from these professionals. This is a descriptive study with qualitative approach, oriented by social representations theory. Eighty-one professionals have participated of the research, 54 doctors and 27 nurses, and they work in public institutions that perform HIV test and take care of people living with HIV/AIDS. In the first step, the professionals answered the socio-professional and free evocation questionnaires. In the second step, as convenience, they respond a semi-structured interview, where 20 nurses and 18 doctors participated of this stage. To analyze the collected data, we used four-house board technique by EVOC 2005 software and lexical analysis by Alceste 4.0 software. For the general structure of social representation, the terms receptiveness, compliance-treatment, future and information are highlighted in the Central Nucleus, which reflect the care process structure in the STD/AIDS program. Within the contrasting zone were identified attention, care and health-education that reinforce the Central Nucleus. It is highlighted the lexicon care bringing a image dimension to representation. The Alceste-run analysis defined five classes, as follows: structure and dynamics of care for people living with HIV/AIDS; the process of transmission and prevention of HIV/AIDS: between victims, guilty and professionals; memories and history of the HIV/AIDS revealed by professionals; care in the context of multidisciplinary team: composition, challenges and concepts; the national program STD/AIDS and its implementation in health units: evaluation, memory and capacity building. We also performed a cross-analysis of the terms nursing care and medical care. At the end of the study, we believe that the representation of health care for this group of professionals was positive despite the difficulties encountered in their everyday work. The representation of healthcare to person living with HIV/AIDS for doctors and nurses relies on STD/AIDS program and the scientific knowledge that supports each profession, we can observed that professionals valorize the multidisciplinary team and seek for treat the client respectfully, encouraging treatment adherence through information and psychological support.
