Percepção do profissional de enfermagem sobre o acolhimento à população masculina: desconstruindo a invisibilidade

This is a study whose object is the reception of the male population in the family health strategy. It has a general objective: to understand the perception of nursing professionals about the reception of the male population in the family health strategy. And specific objectives: to describe the perception of nursing professionals about the reception of the male population in the Family Health Strategy; identify the strategies for welcoming the male population adopted in the Family Health Strategy and discuss the impact of welcoming the male population, focusing on health, in the Family Health Strategy. Descriptive study and qualitative approach, with 17 nursing professionals (including nine nurses and eight nursing technicians), who were developing their activities in a Tybe B health unit, ie, Municipal Health Center (CMS) and Family Clinic ( CF) - Family Health Strategy (FHS) in the city of Rio de Janeiro. A semi-structured interview was used as a data collection instrument and for data analysis the content analysis technique was applied. Through the analysis of the data, two categories emerged: Dubious Perception of nursing professionals about the reception the male population and the strategies of welcoming the male population in the family health strategy. The results show an understanding of the reception of men by nursing professionals, demonstrating difficulty in dealing with the male population. The analysis pointed out that this difficulty is related to the absence of men in the basic unit and the professional's difficulty in dealing with the male relational perspective.This situation translates into the invisibility of this population in the basic heath unit that may also be associated with the lack of training in men's health and knowledge about the national policy of integral attention to men's health. It is concluded that nursing professionals remain indifferent to the male population and do not receive a holistic view of this population. It is necessary to understand the comprehension in health and men from a relational gender perspective, male vulnerability, among other issues, so that the reception meets the needs of this population.
