Resumo: This research has as its main objective to analyze the construction of rhotic interphonology by Brazilian learners of English as a foreign language (EFL). It presents possible problems faced by Brazilian EFL learners in realizing rhotic phonemes. The exercise implies the necessity of a minute study of the rhotic systems associated to each particular language, besides the various possibilities for Brazilian EFL learners constructing their interphonology.

Este trabalho tem por objetivo geral analisar a construção da interfonologia rótica de aprendizes brasileiros de inglês lí­ngua estrangeira (ILE). Apresentamos por meio de uma análise comparativa quais os possí­veis obstáculos enfrentados por aprendizes brasileiros de ILE na realização dos fonemas róticos.
