Resumo: | This article aims to explore the indianist novel by José de Alencar, Iracema, writing notes on how the genre has adapted in the tropics to the environment, how it has accepted topics such as subjectivity and race in indigenous figures and also how the novel genre corroborated with the project of literary emancipation. It was tried to evidence that the Indian of Jose de Alencar did not seek the affirmation of the nationality in the continuation of the indigenous tradition, rather, it preferred to reinser it in the European culture, in order to construct a new look on the Indian. We use Bakthin (1998), Bosi (1992) and Candido (2006) as theoretical contributions. |
