Resumo: This article, following the theoretical principles of Variationist Sociolinguistics, presents a literature review about the use of the aspirated variant of /S/ in coda (postvocalic) in the speech of different Brazilian dialects. From a bibliographic survey on the subject and a review of the data from the selected texts, the results were analyzed comparatively, in order to verify which are the linguistic and social factors that condition the aspirated realization of the consonant. It was revealed that the position the variant occupies in the word, its subsequent context, the syllable stress, the lexical item mesmo, the speaker's age group, as well as the location, influence the production of the aspiration.

Edições UERN2021-06-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/RCOL/article/view/3450COLINEARES; v. 8 n. 1 (2021): Revista Colineares; 21-462357-8203reponame:Revista Colinearesinstname:Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (UERN)instacron:UERNporhttps://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/RCOL/article/view/3450/2777Copyright (c) 2021 Gabriela Dias Toledo, Maria Mendes Cantonihttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessToledo, Gabriela Dias Cantoni, Maria Mendes 2023-07-31T16:18:05Zoai:ojs2.periodicos.apps.uern.br:article/3450Revistahttp://periodicos.uern.br/index.php/colinearesPUBhttp://periodicos.uern.br/index.php/colineares/oai||rev.colineares@uern.br2357-82032357-8203opendoar:2024-05-17T13:37:39.113582Revista Colineares - Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (UERN)false
