FREEDOM OF THE WILL, CHRISTIAN FREEDOM AND MYSTICISM IN THE EARLY THOUGHT OF MARTIN LUTHER

Resumo: In this article I investigate the presence of the Augustinian notions of free will and freedom in two works by Luther, in relation to the persistency of his interest in Theologia Germanica, an anonymous treatise on mysticism. To this end (1) I analyze the Quaestio de viribus et voluntate hominis sine gratia disputata, dated 1516, (2) I show that the Quaestio  presupposes the Augustinian distinction between free will and freedom; (3) I present  the mystical notion of freedom such as it appears in Theologia Germanica and (4) I establish the presence of the said notion in De libertate christiana (1520).

Con este fin (1) se analiza la Cuestión disputada acerca de la fuerza y de la voluntad del hombre sin la gracia de 1516, (2) se muestra que la cuestión supone la distinción agustiniana entre libre albedrí­o y libertad; (3) se presenta la noción de libertad propia de la Teologí­a germánica y (4) se determina la presencia de dicha noción en La libertad del cristiano (1520).Neste artigo se investiga a presença das noções de livre arbí­trio e de liberdade agostinianas em duas obras de Lutero, em relação ao seu constante interesse por um trabalho anónimo de mí­stica, Teologia germánica.
