Resumo: The present study aims to present a reflection about the Sartre"™s Existentialism, making mention of the criticisms, which have been released. Such criticisms are expressed at the Conference The Existentialism is a Humanism, through which the philosopher seeks to clarify the meaning of Existentialism and defend him of several charges imputed to him, mainly by Marxists and Christians. To understanding of Sartre, man is master of his fate and, once released into the world, he is solely responsible for everything as he does. This understanding will become one of the main factors that will lead critics of your Existentialism to classify it as a doctrine obscure, pessimistic hardness, desperate and also carried on a kind of capitalist setting. Sartre seeks to show how, contrary to what critics say, his philosophy points a way of emancipation of mankind by the exercise of freedom.

Tais crí­ticas se encontram expressas na conferência O Existencialismo é um Humanismo, através da qual o filósofo busca esclarecer o significado do existencialismo e defendê-lo das várias acusações que lhe foram imputadas, principalmente por marxistas e cristãos. Para a compreensão sartreana, o homem é senhor do seu destino e, uma vez lançado no mundo, é o único responsável por tudo o quanto fizer. Essa compreensão se tornará um dos principais fatores que levarão os crí­ticos de seu existencialismo a classificá-lo como uma doutrina obscura, de dureza pessimista, desesperada e que, ainda, carregava sobre si uma espécie de configuração capitalista.
