AROUND SIMEON STYLITE: FROM ASCETIC POETICS TO THE POETICS OF FAITH

Resumo: In the course of the construction of Kierkegaard's Fear and trembling, a change of title and pseudonym occurs. Initially, the book would be called Movements and Positions, and the author, Simeon Stylite, a fifth-century hermit who spent part of his life living on a pillar. This change doesn"™t seem to be unreasonable, and if we follow the dynamics of this change of title and authorship, it will reveal a new path to the interpretation of Fear and trembling, which will overflow faith as mere asceticism and bring with it the most radical meaning of loneliness. The poetics exercised by Johannes de silentio is the poetics of the one who educates in teaching to see the life through the memory of the loneliness of the "knight of the faith".

Inicialmente, o livro seria chamado de Movimentos e posições, e o autor, Simeão Estilita, um ermitão do século V que passou parte de sua vida vivendo sobre um pilar. Essa mudança não parece ser despropositada, e se acompanharmos a dinâmica dessa mudança de tí­tulo e autoria revelar-se-á um caminho novo para a interpretação de Temor e tremor, o que desbordará a fé como mera ascese e trará consigo o sentido mais radical da solidão.
