We intend to bring forth in this work two fundamental authors in the History of Modern Philosophy, namely, Descartes and Hegel, and due to the importance to this period of human thought also to consider the relationship between being and thinking. Far from exhausting this theme, we will try, through a particular cutout of the text of both authors, to understand to what extent the formulation of the Cartesian res cogitans is similar to the Hegelian concept of thinking subject. We intend, therefore, to demonstrate that the unity of being and thinking is elemental and fundamental for these thinkers, and from it follows a Philosophy to which is crucial to think about thinking. For this end, we will use the Cartesian text Metaphysical meditations, and the Hegelian text Encyclopedia of the philosophical sciences.
