Resumo: The reflections about the eternal recurrence emphasize the Nietzsche´s posthumous writings where it is exposed as a kind of a positive theme, in such a way that some interpreters tend to take for granted that the eternal recurrence is Nietzsche"™s grounding thought. Adopting another point of view as developing a thought about oddness, or "idiocy", Rosset claims against heidegger and even Deleuze that a theory about something being able of such an recurring identity does not concern to Nietzsche"™s thought. That which is odd, ephemeral and complete as each instant is, is then necessarily non-recurring. Eternal recurrence is thus presented as an hypothesis symbolizing tragic affirmation – this one would be the actual grounding thought of Nietzsche.

Adotando outra via, e desenvolvendo uma filosofia centrada na singularidade, ou "idiotia", Rosset, opondo-se a heidegger e mesmo a Deleuze, tenta mostrar ser estranha a Nietzsche a idéia de algo ser de tal modo dotado de um ser a ponto de uma tal identidade ser passí­vel de repetição. O singular, efêmero e pleno como o instante, é, ao invés, necessariamente irrepetí­vel. O eterno retorno é então apresentado como hipótese-sí­mbolo da afirmatividade trágica, a qual consistiria no efetivo pensamento fundamental de Nietzsche.
