Resumo: | Oil activity developed in the CPCA/RN discusses the stages of prospecting, evaluation of training, exploration, drilling, completion, and production, being possible from this production process enhance the generation of employment, income, royalties, energy, fuel and projection of the region on the national scene. This article aims to determine the significant environmental impacts of the Oilfield Canto do Amaro - CPCA, located in the lower course of the Apodi-Mossoró watershed – BHRAM / RN. Theoretical and methodological foundation of the research took place from the application of the evaluation system Pressure-StateImpact-Response - PSIR. Aspects and most significant environmental impacts of observed oil industry were generation of air emissions, semi-solid waste (mud and gravel), solid waste, wastewater and noise, pollution of water, soil, noise, air and visual pollution; vegetation removal, erosion, interference with local flora, interference with local fauna, changing the stability of ecosystems, changes in land use dynamics, risks to workers' health, pressure on local communities, interference in traditional activities and pressure on public services infrastructure. To ensure the sustainability of the investigated area it is necessary to conduct environmental monitoring studies (water, soil, air, and biota), socioeconomic diagnostics of local communities, actions of environmental management and environmental auditing. |

Este artigo tem por objetivo arrolar e classificar os impactos ambientais significativos do Campo Petrolífero Canto do Amaro – CPCA, localizado no baixo curso da Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Apodi-Mossoró/RN – BHRAM/RN. A fundamentação teórica e metodológica da pesquisa se deu a partir da aplicação do sistema de avaliação Pressão-Estado-Impacto-Resposta – PEIR. Os aspectos e impactos ambientais mais significativos da indústria do petróleo constatados foram: geração de emissões atmosféricas, geração de resíduos semissólidos (lama e cascalho), geração de resíduos sólidos, geração de efluentes líquidos, geração de ruídos, poluição hídrica, poluição do solo, poluição sonora, poluição atmosférica, poluição visual, supressão vegetal, processos erosivos, interferência na flora local, interferência na fauna local, alteração da estabilidade dos ecossistemas, alteração da dinâmica de uso do solo, riscos à saúde dos trabalhadores, pressão nas comunidades locais, interferências nas atividades tradicionais e, pressão na infraestrutura de serviços públicos.
