Resumo: This research aims to associate the spatial variation of rainfall and relief for water availability in the Apodi/Mossoró River Basin (RN, Brazil). A series of temporal rainfall data (mm) was used between the years 1983 to 2013, of 38 monitoring stations located along the study area, obtained from the database provided by the institutions ANA, CPRM, EMPARN and SUDENE. The data were submitted to the geostatistical interpolation procedure, by the inverse distance weighting method (IDW). The division was observed in well-defined pluviometric sub-regions: in the section that includes the high course of the Apodi/Mossoró River, rainfall is between 821 and 1,284 mm; rainfall levels between 742 and 821 mm dominate most of the middle course; and in the low course, was characterized by the drier climate, since the rainfall index oscillates between 534 to 742 mm. The results corroborated the influence of the domain of residual masses (plateaus in the order of 700 and 750 m) in rainfall, in the initial stretches of the hydrographic basin. Therefore, the atmospheric dynamics conditions and the heterogeneity of the relief morphology influence the temporal and spatial variations of the pluviometric precipitation of the study area.

Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (UERN)2018-12-29info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion Peer reviewed Revisado por paresAvaliado pelos paresapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/GEOTemas/article/view/899Journal Geotemas; Vol. 8 No. 3 (2018): Revista Geotemas; 29-41Revista Geotemas; Vol. 8 Núm. 3 (2018): Revista Geotemas; 29-41Revista Geotemas; v. 8 n. 3 (2018): Revista Geotemas; 29-412236-255Xreponame:Revista Geotemasinstname:Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (UERN)instacron:UERNporhttps://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/GEOTemas/article/view/899/811Copyright (c) 2018 REVISTA GEOTEMASinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMedeiros, David Hélio Miranda de Cavalcante, Andrea Almeida Pinheiro, Lidriana de Souza 2020-06-22T15:14:53Zoai:ojs2.periodicos.apps.uern.br:article/899Revistahttp://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/GEOTemas/indexPUBhttp://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/GEOTemas/oaigeotemas@uern.br||josielguedes@yahoo.com.br2236-255X2236-255Xopendoar:2020-06-22T15:14:53Revista Geotemas - Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (UERN)false
