Weaving memories of the textile industrial capital: the santa thereza industry and the transformations in cearense space

Resumo: The Ceará factory period begins with the industrial use of cotton, through the textile industries in Fortaleza. The importance of the study of textile industrial capital is made noticeable in space, in addition to the technical, economic and social aspects, through the production and spatial reproduction with the capital and labor interrelations under the mediation of productive forces and social relations of production. This study allowed to highlight the role of the textile industry in Ceará, considering that Ceará is the third largest textile pole in the country, with a history of 135 years. The choice of the Santa Thereza industry was due to the fact that it was one of the pioneers in Ceará's industrial textile production. It was founded in Aracati in 1893. Field research instigated us to question the consequences of the loss of importance of the textile industries. the Aracati economy, which led us to a brief analysis of the city of Aracati, at the height of cotton processing, the local elite working with the founding of industries, the technologies used, the loss of importance of Aracati before the strength of Fortaleza and the socio-spatial transformations through which it passes. With the bibliographical survey and the field research it was possible, among other things, to understand the dynamics of gain and loss of importance of cities of Ceará, as well as changes in cartography and socio-spatial consequences, allowing also to analyze in a smaller scale the relations with the intra-urban of Aracati.

La importancia del estudio del capital industrial textil se percibe notablemente en el espacio, además de los aspectos técnicos, económicos y sociales, mediante la producción y reproducción espacial con las interrelaciones capital y trabajo bajo mediación de las fuerzas productivas y relaciones sociales de producción. Este estudio permitió evidenciar el papel que desarrolla la industria textil en el espacio cearense, considerando que el Ceará constituye el tercer mayor polo textil del paí­s, con una historia de 135 años. La elección de la industria Santa Thereza se debió al hecho de la misma ser una de las pioneras en la producción industrial textil cearense, habiendo sido fundada en Aracati en 1893. La investigación de campo nos instigó al cuestionamiento acerca de las consecuencias de la pérdida de importancia de las industrias de que se llevó a un breve análisis de la ciudad de Aracati, en el auge del beneficiamiento del algodón, la actuación de la élite local con la fundación de industrias, las tecnologí­as utilizadas, la pérdida de importancia de la economí­a de Aracati ante la pujanza de Fortaleza y las transformaciones socioespaciales por las que pasa. Con el levantamiento bibliográfico y la investigación de campo fue posible, entre otras cosas, entender la dinámica de ganancia y pérdida de importancia de ciudades cearenses, como también cambios en la cartografí­a y consecuencias socioespaciales, permitiendo además analizar en una escala menor las relaciones con el intraurbano de Aracati.O perí­odo fabril cearense inicia-se com o aproveitamento industrial do algodão, através de indústrias de tecidos em Fortaleza. A importância do estudo do capital industrial têxtil se faz perceber notadamente no espaço, além dos aspectos técnicos, econômicos e sociais, mediante a produção e reprodução espacial com as interrelações capital e trabalho sob mediação das forças produtivas e relações sociais de produção. Este estudo permitiu evidenciar o papel que desenvolve a indústria têxtil no espaço cearense, considerando que o Ceará constitui o terceiro maior polo têxtil do Paí­s, com uma história de 135 anos. A escolha da indústria Santa Thereza se deveu ao fato da mesma ser uma das pioneiras na produção industrial têxtil cearense, tendo sido fundada, em Aracati, em 1893. A pesquisa de campo nos instigou ao questionamento acerca das consequências da perda de importância das indústrias de beneficiamento de algodão que moviam a economia de Aracati, o que nos levou a uma breve análise da cidade de Aracati, no auge do beneficiamento do algodão, a atuação da elite local com a fundação de indústrias, as tecnologias utilizadas, a perda de importância de Aracati ante a pujança de Fortaleza e as transformações socioespaciais pelas quais passa.
