Resumo: The study that follows it is centered in a quarrel that takes as reference the intellectual trajectory of David Harvey, with approach in its contributions for geographic science, mainly for the ideas inspired by the marxist teory. On the basis of bibliographical research on the production of this intellectual searched to show as the marxist thought is taken to analyzes critical in the studies undertaken for Harvey on the urban dynamics in the context of reproduction of the capital. Associated to this perspective, it was looked to show as its production has endorsed of excellent form the urban studies contemporaries, and as it has if consolidating in important reference for sciences human beings, surpassing, therefore, the field of study of geography.

Com base em pesquisa bibliográfica sobre a produção desse intelectual buscou-se mostrar como o pensamento marxista é tomado a análise crí­tica nos estudos empreendidos por Harvey sobre a dinâmica urbana no contexto de reprodução do capital.
