This paper intends to discuss through an approach of trauma and memory in psychoanalysis, the paradoxical aspect of the literature of testemony: even when it is impossible, there is a need to write. Therefore, we performed a reinterpretation of the experience of pain elaborated by Freud in 1895, where we intend to show that the Ego can use the recurrence of pain in its favor. We also use the concept of iterability, proposed by Derrida, which gives the ability to produce repetitions espousing a difference to the writing, always taking into account the otherness. From this it is possible to understand the written testimony as a device used by the Ego to take possession of non-dominated energy from the traumatic event.KEYWORDS: Writing. Memory. Trauma.
