Resumo: This article interprets Luiz Gama's political and intellectual position towards movements in defense of the end of slavery. It analyzes his narratives and writings published in the Radical Paulistano newspaper in the second half of the 19th century, highlighting his differentiated role within the Radical Club. Finally, we conclude that Luiz Gama's active participation within the liberal movement contributed to shape the actions of this social movement.

Analiza sus narraciones y escritos publicados en el periódico Radical Paulistano en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, destacando su papel diferenciado dentro del Club Radical. Finalmente, concluimos que la participación activa de Luiz Gama dentro del movimiento liberal contribuyó a moldear las acciones de este movimiento social.Este artigo interpreta a posição política e intelectual de Luiz Gama frente aos movimentos em defesa do fim da escravidão.
