Resumo: Paying for their deliverances, baptizing their children, burying their dead. In addition to the heavy labor, there was still room for affection, sexual life, desires and wishes of the women who lived in the southern captaincy. And there were no shortages of sodomy, witchcraft, seduction, bigamy. This text is the result of an ongoing research project that peers out African women in the south of Bahia and unfolds in two parts of their lives in the colonial and imperial period, taking them not only as research objects, but giving them condition of being narrated as protagonists supported in vast and unpublished sources. This article chose to bring them in the colonial period. As for the period in question, two aspects were highlighted in the sources: the denounced sinners were related either to witchcraft practices or to the sexual and affective life of the Christian preacher. The sources used were Promoter's Notebooks, Correspondents exchanged between authorities and a descriptive memory about being a woman, being African and being enslaved or covering different discourses. Keywords: African, Promoter's notebooks, Sins
