Resumo: This study presents the limitations and consequences (violence) imposed on a fat body in contemporary Western society. Understanding the school as a place to broaden the perspective of differences, we sought to answer the following question: How can the cinema/movies contribute to problematize issues related to the fat body and stigma in the educational context? Methodologically, this was a qualitative study of descriptive-exploratory nature, through film analysis, using as corpus of analysis the movie "Precious" (IMDB, 2009). The movie allowed us to realize that the stigma of the fat body is naturalized in all social spaces where Precious is present, stimulating symbolic and physical violence. We understand that the use of cinema/movies in the educational context, with the mediation of the teacher, makes it possible to (re)think critically and reflectively about issues related to the fat body and its social exclusion, in order to foster the deconstruction of prejudice and a more human education.

Entendiendo la escuela como un lugar para ampliar la busqueda de diferencias, buscamos responder a la siguiente pregunta: ¿Cómo puede el cine/película contribuir para problematizar cuestiones relacionadas al cuerpo gordo y al estigma en el contexto educacional? Metodológicamente, se trató de un estudio cualitativo de carácter descriptivo-exploratorio, por medio de análisis de películas, utilizando como corpus de análisis la película "Precious" (IMDB, 2009). La película nos permitió darnos cuenta de que el estigma al cuerpo gordo está naturalizado en todos los espacios sociales en los que Precious convive, estimulando la violencia simbólica y física. Entendemos que el uso del cine/película en el contexto educativo, con la mediación del profesor, posibilita (re)pensar crítica y reflexivamente cuestiones relacionadas al cuerpo gordo y su exclusión social, para fomentar la deconstrucción de prejuicios y una formación más humana.O presente estudo apresenta as limitações e consequências (violências) impostas a um corpo gordo na sociedade ocidental contemporânea. Compreendendo a escola como lugar para ampliar o olhar para as diferenças, buscamos responder a seguinte pergunta: Como o cinema/filme pode contribuir para problematizar questões referentes ao corpo gordo e estigma no contexto educacional? Metodologicamente, tratou-se de um estudo qualitativo de cunho descritivo-exploratório, por meio de análise fílmica, utilizando como corpus de análise a produção cinematográfica “Preciosa – Uma História de Esperança” (IMDB, 2009). A película nos permitiu perceber que o estigma ao corpo gordo é naturalizado em todos os espaços sociais em que Preciosa convive estimulando a violência simbólica e física.
