Resumo: | This work aims at discussing the links between new museological approaches and socio-economic development, focusing on practices of Community-Based Tourism (TBC). To this end, it brings original empirical content, based on the presentation, description and discussion of Organic Museums (MOs), an initiative conceived and led by Fundação Casa Grande and its partners in the region of Nova Olinda (CE). Of descriptive and exploratory nature, it is the result of an association between researchers and a local key actor, who participated in the conception and monitoring of these museums and tourist visiting schemes. Comparing the practices observed in the region - enhanced through visits between 2022 and 2023 - in dialogue with selected literature, convergent museological principles were perceived, reinforcing the need to foster these community movements for the sake of transformative initiatives, valorization of cultural identities and encouragement of community tourism practices. The work also highlights new research agendas in the interface between tourism, museology and community development, assuming that similar initiatives need to be known, debated and put into motion for collective learning among communities, decision makers, visitors and other social actors involved in socio-economic development via TBC. Key words: Community-based tourism, communitary development, New Museology, Organic Museums, Casa Grande Foundation (Ceará/Brazil) |
