Local narratives communicate the imagery of a community and can be shared, through cultural tourism, with other people. The present research identified, in the literary scope of popular culture, myths, tales and legends from the city of Paulino Neves - MA. We developed a descriptive, analytical and applied study, through bibliographical review and narrative research focused on the historical-cultural and immaterial heritage of an oral nature, in the city of Paulino Neves-MA, through semi-structured interviews with residents, for textual registration, of the oral narratives, which can contribute to preserving the memory and cultural identity of communities in the municipality. In the first stage, we developed an exploratory study based on informal conversations with local informants, with residents of the city, who bring in their literature similar content and concepts about the proposed theme, making these stories something that is part of culture, of personal identity, being shared in a generational process. Then, we left for field research, with on-site visits, making observations and recordings of oral popular literary culture with the residents.
