Resumo: | The research presents a new diagnosis of the use of the internet as a competitive advantage that affects the volume of reservations in the hotels of the old road of Estrada Real in the region of Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais) to Paraty (Rio de Janeiro). The research was carried out involving 21 hotels in 7 cities on Estrada Real. Semi-structured interviews were carried out, including the observation of processes, documentary analysis and survey of the data adopted for the formulation of this research, with the interviewees being managers and owners of the hotel units. The survey also shows an increase in the use of the internet in the hotels surveyed, the functionalities of web sites and, mainly, the business opportunities arising from the increase in competitiveness and, increasingly, the sector integrating itself in the process of the virtual world and achieving success with customers. |

Foi efetuado um estudo envolvendo 21 hotéis de 7 cidades da Estrada Real. Foram feitas entrevistas semiestruturadas, incluindo a observação de processos, a análise documental e o levantamento dos dados adotados para a formulação desta pesquisa, sendo os entrevistados gerentes e donos das unidades hoteleiras.
