Resumo:  In this paper we propose a reading of the poem “A máquina do mundo” by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, in dialogue with the work Maquinação do mundo: Drummond e a mineração (2018), by José Miguel Wisnik. We discussed the relationship between the lyric self and the childhood memory, the scenery and the history by the effects of mining, which can be read today by the ecocriticism overview. The analysis defends the Drummond’s contribution to a nowadays possibility of nature degradation text’s appreciation as a function of the idea of progress. It was analyzed by an image observation criticism point of view related to the ecological demands already presented in the twentieth century by the poet in several texts of his own. It put on scene poetic images that complaint, above all, that highlight what can be observed as a nonintentional intervention, which contributes to an ecocritical position reading.
