This monograph is the result of bibliographical research, aiming to present an analysis of the events that occurred as railroads in the State of Alagoas, from the nineteenth century until the mid-twentieth century, from its implementation until the decline. During the period in which the function took place, a devaluation occurred throughout the Brazilian territory, when the federal government decided to invest in highways, investments in Brazil's steel roads, restricting the precariousness of their maintenance, implementing another type. that meet the demands of cargo and passengers. The implementation of railroads boosted the Brazilian economy, directed to agricultural production, as was the case of coffee in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, encompassing the Paraíba Valley, cotton and sugar and sugar in the Northeast of Brazil, as well as in other locations. rubber and ore production. However, the first chapter consists of information pertinent to the geographical formation of the city of Maceió, the implantation of railways in Alagoas and the titles in Maceió, when it begins its activities to be conducted by animals. Already in the second chapter, we observe the importance of the train as transportation of cargo and passengers, having a fundamental importance in the social and economic life of the people, as well as in the flow of the agricultural crops produced in the State, destined to the transport in the port of Jaraguá, in Maceio. From the third and last chapter, start a combination of investments in English in railways in Alagoas, and finally, or decline of railways for lack of investments. The work has to bring to the academic discourse a perspective showing that the implementation of railways in the state was economically objectified on the interests of the English bourgeoisie, cotton producers and mainly sugarcane, having profits with the sectors involved as textile factories. and sugar and alcohol producers who have benefited for many years or more.
