Although they deal with historically distinct phenomena that run in parallel most of the time, the women's struggle for emancipation and socialist ideals intersect at some points throughout the history of humanity. From these encounters, several advances have been made for the feminist cause, but also impasses have been produced that persist to this day. If the contribution of socialists to the issue of women is undeniable, the scope of the same is still under discussion in several segments dedicated to women's emancipation. This article seeks to analyze the meetings and disagreements between socialism and the struggle of women to overcome their condition of inferiority towards men during the 19th and 20th centuries. Starting from the idea of the class struggle and the fight against capitalism, we will analyze the trajectory of feminists and socialists who have dedicated works or parts of their works to the question of female inequality and its struggle for political and social rights. Although the socialist tradition failed to address the whole problematic and specificity of the issue of women, it was the Socialists who first devoted themselves to deeper analysis of the situation of inferiority and oppression to which women were subjected in bourgeois society.
