The cultivation of Atemóia (Annona squamosa L. x Annona cherimola Mill) has increased in recent years and although the growing interest in the culture, brings the necessity to develop technologies with the purpose of enriching the knowledge about the hybrid. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the compatibility of atemoya cv. Gefner scions with Annona glabra L. and Annona mucosa Jacq. rootstocks using two types of grafting: cleft graft and whip and togue graft. The work was carried out in a greenhouse, in a 2 x 2 factorial scheme, being two rootstock species and two types of grafting, in a completely randomized design with 12 replications. The results showed that the A.glabra seedlings presented greater vegetative vigor, obtaining larger diameter of the stem, larger height and larger number of leaves. The highest success rates were observed in the A. glabra rootstocks, both for cleft and hip and tongue grafts, with 80% and 72%, respectively. For the sprouting index, 92% of the grafts performed on A. mucosa in both types of grafting obtained a maximum of three shoots, observed up to 45 days after grafting. A. glabra was the best rootstock for atemoya cv. Gefner in both grafting methods and presented excellent potential for commercial use.
