Introduction: The headgear is the most classic Class II treatment for growing patients. Objective: To investigate the frequency of use of headgear by orthodontists in the treatment of skeletal Class II malocclusion, currently and at the beginning of their professional lives, taking into account factors such as age group, length of clinical experience and level of professional training. Also identify the reasons that led professionals to not choose headgear. Methodology: Questionnaire created on the Google Doc’s platform containing 3 questions. Two of them sought to identify the frequency of use of AEB today and in the beginning of their professional life and the third sought to identify the reason for not using headgear. Results: There was a decrease in the frequency of use of headgear currently regardless of the length of clinical experience and level of professional training. The most reported reason for not using this device was a personal option, since the device is mobile and depends on the patient's cooperation. Conclusion: There is a tendency to decrease the frequency of use of headgear in the treatment of skeletal Class II malocclusion in growing patients in the comparison between the beginning of professional life and current clinical practice.
