This work presents systematic studies on the construction of the urban space and the influence of the state in this process, helping to understand the formation and, by allowing the design of the urban space in order to meet more efficiently as the needs of the residents who inhabit and of the surrounding cities. Using the analysis and treatment of documents, photos and satellite images in a neighborhood in the municipality of Pilar-AL, it was possible to verify that government programs were able to cause a substantial change in the urban space in a short time. At the end of the study, the work proved to be important for didactic purposes, since the changes in the neighborhood happened so quickly, that it ended up showing the existing contrasts between the different localities of the municipality that were not affected by the Government's programs, serving, therefore, from a counterpoint to field study to students who seek to better understand the transformation process of urban space.
