Resumo: This work arises from need to understand the process of ethnic-racial selfrecognition. For this, we seek the study of how the Ilê Aiyê afro-baiano group, from his self-referent discourse, acts in the construction of being black paradigms in brazilian society. We undertake how this group acts as combating racism from the moment it fit in political and cultural action, reinventing new ways of being. From the diversity presented during the work, it is understood how the Ilê Aiyê acting as an element of resistance and propellant of empowerment in black people beyond the carnival street of the Salvador city.

Para tanto, busca-se o estudo de como o bloco afro-baiano Ilê Aiyê, através de seu discurso autorreferente, atua na construção de novos paradigmas do ser negro na sociedade brasileira. Nesses novos caminhos, empreende-se no entendimento de como esse bloco atua no combate ao racismo a partir do momento que conjuga ação política e cultural, (re)inventando novos modos de ser.
